Kavita Chandoskar
Project Description
Our resident Kavita Chandoskar is a beautiful example of the fact that humanity still exists. The 22-year-old Kavita spent several years of her life on the footpath next Byculla’s Jijamata Udyaan that lies right opposite the Byculla Municipal School. Having lost her mother at the tender age of 3 years, Kavita and her father were interdependent as a family. Residents of the Ghodapdeo vicinity noticed these two souls, living off the footpath and supported them in ways they could, whether it was food or daily essentials. In fact, not only these neighbours but even the taxi drivers of the area came forward to offer help in several ways. However, basic essentials were never met pushing the two to endure the hot and cold of the weather and even the torrential Mumbai rains which were only shielded with the help of a plastic cover over their bodies!
These residents were no less than a messiah for Kavita; they took charge and found a rehabilitation centre for Kavita where she could live a better life and get treatment. However, the process involved quite a few shortcomings. It was then that one of these residents came to know about ANIKET and brought her here.
While Kavita now has a safer refuge to shelter her against the odds of a climate and provide her with food and water, she still needs a lot of help from you. Her health condition causes frequent fits and seizures among other complications that need monthly medication of a certain amount per month. To help Kavita, please click on the DONATE NOW button!
